Kim Hinshaw qualified in 1982 in Newcastle upon Tyne and trained in the Northern Deanery as a registrar and in Aberdeen as a Clinical Lecturer/Senior Registrar. He has been a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in Sunderland since 1994, and is Director of Research & Innovation.
He is a Visiting Professor at Sunderland University and Clinical Research Lead (Division 3) for the NIHR Northeast & North Cumbria, Clinical Research Network. His clinical interests include high-risk pregnancy and intrapartum care and he has a long-term interest in obstetric skills-drills training, human factors and postgraduate education.
Kim is a member of the MOET & POET UK Working Groups and is presently Education Lead for the BMFMS Executive committee.
He is Faculty Chair for the Baby Lifeline BIRTH2 training programme.
