Up to the end of June 2014, Howard Railton has been Director of Projects for the Air Products Global Engineering Organisation in Europe. He is now providing Organisation Management, Safety and Leadership consultancy and is working with various organisations to promote a greater interest in education and jobs in science and engineering in the UK.
He graduated from Bristol University with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Howard joined Air Products as a Graduate in 1975. In his career he has worked in Operations, Procurement, Manufacturing, Design, Economic Evaluation and, prior to assuming his current position he was Director of Construction – Europe. Howard has been overall Project Manager for some of the largest projects that Air Products Europe has executed. He has had a major safety management responsibility over a number of years.
He is married with two daughters and enjoys offshore sailing, skiing, music and cooking. He is a Liveryman of the worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers, one of the few City Livery Company devoted to promoting science and engineering in the City of London.
