Callum Smith

Paramedic, South East Coast Ambulance Service

Callum is a Paramedic working for SECAmb in Crawely (close to Gatwick Airport). He is also a volunteer for St John’s Ambulance as a Clinical Lead in Education, Development and CPD. During his time in the Ambulance Service, he has seen maternity care provided by pre-hospital clinicians which has impacted negatively on women, their babies and their families.

Callum believes that even if women deliver outside of hospital, they should still have a good birthing experience and receive high-quality care should emergencies arrive. Callum has made it his goal to raise standards within his ambulance trust and the wider Paramedic profession. Professionally he trained in Life Support for adults and children, including newborns and has attended the Pre-Obstetric Emergency Training (POET) course.
