Predict to Prevent: Ultrasound Practical Day

Learn Predictive Measures to Prevent Future Preterm Deaths & Stillbirths

Our Predict to Prevent study day came to Birmingham and was hosted at the very sleek headquarters of Shakespeare Martineau. The day brought together delegates from different NHS Trusts to learn predictive methods in order to prevent future preterm deaths and stillbirths from occurring.

The day consisted of our Predict to Prevent faculty each presenting their own interactive and knowledgeable sessions, with questions and answers by the delegates who were engaged with each of the faculty’s presentations and keen to discuss the content that was raised throughout the day.

The Predict to Prevent Course Directors consist of:
• Nigel Simpson – Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust
• Ed Johnstone – Consultant and Senior lecturer in Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine, St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester
• Suzanne Thomas – SGA Specialist midwife, St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester
• Alex Heazell – Professor in Obstetrics, University of Manchester

Leaders in their respective field, our faculty have put together this highly recommended course to concentrate on the following aims:
• To provide an evidence-based clinical overview of care for babies at risk of preterm birth, fetal growth restriction, and stillbirth
• To be aware of and conversant in prediction, prevention, and management of preterm birth
• To understand and implement the best evidence in relation to the screening, diagnosis and management of SGA/FGR babies
• To understand the origins of stillbirth and implement practical interventions to reduce its incidence

The feedback received was very positive, with delegates saying that the day was ‘enjoyable, interesting and relevant’, that they would be ‘recommending the course’ and that the faculty were ‘Approachable, friendly and passionate’.

For those of you who missed out on attending the course, check out the list of courses on our website. We look forward to seeing you at one very soon.
