Who should attend?

Lawyers, obstetric clinicians and midwives

The CTG Masterclass course is aimed at all midwives, obstetricians and clinical negligence lawyers who are involved in interpreting CTG traces. A basic knowledge of CTG interpretation would be beneficial, but not essential. To get the most out of the course, it is recommended that candidates read a CTG book, such as Fetal Monitoring in Practice, or similar, and review the relevant NICE Guidance on CTG Interpretation. However, the pathophysiology of fetal heart rate changes, the types of hypoxia during labour, technical aspects of CTG and STAN Machines will be covered in detail during the course. The first day will review the basic science and interpretation of CTG traces including rational application of NICE Guidelines and Medico-legal issues, including workshops on 'timing' of hypoxic injury. The second day is dedicated to CTG interpretation and additional tests of fetal wellbeing including STAN. Both days will have interactive sessions and workshops to actively encourage discussion on contentious issues in CTG interpretation and to promote rational fetal monitoring to avoid unnecessary intrapartum interventions.

Cost:

One day £155.00 / Both days £295
A limited number of part funded places available on application at £195.00 for both days
