OBSTETRIC CARE IN 2008
CRITICAL ISSUES IN ANTENATAL
AND INTRAPARTUM MANAGEMENT
Date:
Wednesday 24th
September 2008
Venue: Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology Cork University
Maternity Hospital
Organised by Baby Lifeline in collaboration with Dept. of Obstetrics &
Gynaecology - Cork University Maternity Hospital.
To complement the obstetric skills drills training day to be held on Tuesday
23rd September in Cork, the Baby Lifeline team has drawn together an
international team of experts from Southern Ireland
and the United
Kingdom to give cutting edge lectures on critical areas of antenatal and
intrapartum care.
The programme reflects the importance of multidisciplinary team-work on the
delivery suite and will be of interest to obstetricians, anaesthetists, midwives
& nurses, as well as those involved in
critical care. We
hope that both trainees and experienced clinicians, in all disciplines, will
find the programme stimulating. Subjects will include: training in obstetric
emergencies, liver disease in pregnancy and the effects of obesity in pregnancy
& labour. Important findings from recently published reports will be presented
(UKOSS and NICE), with critical reviews of controversial subjects in intrapartum
care: multiple pregnancy, operative vaginal delivery and vaginal birth
after Caesarean
section (VBAC).
This is an exciting programme designed to promote thought and discussion.
